LATE DINNER @ PU TIEN

I didnt manage to knock off until 8pm+, if not for Audrey
I would have forgotten that Emma is still waiting for me to have dinner together
(he knocked off early , so the boys get their breakfast for lunch!)
I even forgotten we need to get Dora's food as well.

It was almost 9pm when I reached TM, and i was feeling damn hungry by then.
So to save time and trouble, we just walked in Pu Tien
after all its serves really nice food.

Anyone been to Pu Tien before?
Must Try hor!

This is our 'must order' item for cold dish

Next, this is something which i like.
The yam is yummy inside, while the outer crust is a
little crispy and taste sweet.

This is the smallest size, and its really filling!

Then we decided to try something we have never eaten before.
the charges is by pieces, so wont worry over-ordering

It comes separately, so u can just eat the meat or together with the bun

Look at this chinese hamburger!
the tastes is really GOOD!!
and the shredded meat, is more than enough for 2 buns
infact we have excess.

(heck! My cam batt went dead on me at this timing!
rest of the pictures taken with my hp)

Next , this is SUPER GOOD
Its their chief recommendation
every single table will sure order this dish... their famous Pu Tien Lor Mee
It sure dont look anything like the Lor Mee you have in mind!

This is their serving, and it only $6.00 and definitely
enough for 2 pax.

The price tag definitely doesnt match its content
There is abundance of fresh and expensive ingredients
for a $6.00 Lor Mee!

Look at the picture, what do you see??

You can find prawns, mussels, pork, mushroom, veggy,

beancurd skin and even big chunks of scallops inside.

Damn worth right?!!!

Anyway we really did over-order, Emma is really trying his
best to finish everything!

This meal cost us $35.00 and i would say its worth every cents.
Afterall, we did went back again and again.

Pu Tien @ Tampines Mall Basement
(beside escalator)

Current promotion:
no credit card promo but $10 voucher for bill above $50.00

Verdict: 2 thumbs UPZ!
(went back 5 times already & still counting, what more can we say?)

THE LEGENDARY BAO

Some time back, I've said I wanted to try the legendary BAO
SHENG JIAN BAO.... read about it here.

Finally I have a chance to try it...Yay!

Again, this is one of the hottest food stall at Tampines One.

The smallest portion is $2 for three pieces.

The bao is pan-fried lightly, and not very oily.. still okay

Its filled with minced pork and smell very very nice

Its a little soupy inside.. and taste very much like 'xiao long bao'
the pan-fried version.

Not too bad... but i think i still prefer xiao long bao :)

SECRET RECIPE

Dinner tonight was at Secret Recipe.
Im sooo in loved with their cake to the extend
I apply for a Secret Recipe Diners card for that

The dinner menu on the the other hand was not so fantastic
except for their Tom Yum Soup.. its superb!

But its out for me, cuz i didnt want to end up having gastric
pain and cant work on monday.

So we ordered the following.
Can say it good or bad..
Its just hmmm... so so only

My chicken chop was not served piping hot.. which i wonder why
Herb & spices rice taste very bland without fragrance of herbs
Chicken with mushroom sauce on the other hand tasted really salty(for me)
maybe that why both should be eaten together huh..

As for Emma's Pan grilled fillet.
I dont like it that much...
cause i can smell the 'fishy smell' when its served

Together with the lobster sauce
sounds special but taste nothing special at all

Actually we have tried the other items on the menu before
which are actually not bad, better than the dishes today.
(click on the menu link to see their complete menu & prices)

Another 1 thing to take note thou
Secret recipe do charge $$ for Ice water.
See the menu below, but hor
doesnt it states $0.50 per bottle (can fill 2 glasses)?
Now we are being charged on per glass(small) basis!!

Last... its the highlight of the dinner.
My fave cake of all time... its a timeless classic

'Heavenly' is the word!

The cake is freaking BIG for $5.20
and its big enough to be share by 2 or 3 pax.
See I have to show you the anatomy of the cake
to prove how nice it is!!

Actually the reason why we ended up at Secret Recipe for dinner tonight
was because of my craving for the white choc macadamia cake.

After this dinner, I just feel that overall I think the food and cakes
still taste better from the cafe in Malaysia!
The one in Sg or maybe this particular outlet just
didnt performed it best!
Emma felt the same.

Oh and we usually patronised the Secret Recipe in Malaysia
as their cakes are the same price but in Ringgit
So for the same BIG piece of cake, its RM$5.20
and the diners card gets another 10% off.. GREAT DEAL!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Verdict on Secret Recipe @ Tampines 1
Food: ***/*****
(as i said food/cakes not up to the usual standard)
Service: **/*****
(service damn poor, 2* is infact alittle over-rated)
I would say its service is unprofessional according to my standard

KIM GARY RESTAURANT

This is it! 2nd branch in s'pore
been wanting to visit it the one at JB but never got a chance.
Emma always telling me.. "Next time bah, mom cook already.... "

Blah... 'that next time' never ever happen in the past 4 year lor
Irene and me shall go without you!

wooh.. so excited.
I like HK style food esp baked rice.. missed the one at KL BB Plaza
Hope the baked rice here taste as good eh

And i like Bosco!

They do have a few set menu
just look at the one for baked rice and its 1 page long
price is reasonable too

For just 10.50
you get a soup+ baked rice of your choice + drinks
add $0.30 to $2 for cold or special aloe drinks

We decided to pick these out of the many
pork Chop and chicken Chop baked rice

Look good on the picture
but wonder how it taste like... better be good

Hmm... 1st time i see cutlery container like this
its a tupperware!
why ar?? more special meh??
dun think so...

Now guess what is this?

Its our soups!
in coffee cups...

Haha.. looked this
Oversized soup spoon in a coffeecup
Should we be give teaspoon for drinking soup then?!

Cream Soup -> Not too bad , much much beta than Cafe Cartel
at least its not campbell can soup
Borsch Soup -> Nice, packed with lotsa of goodies. Maybe cup too small
but overall is very nice.. but alittle salty thou.

Next our drinks.
We both ordered the same Cold Yuan Yang, add $0.30 for cold drinks
cuz we didnt wan to top up the $2 for aloe drink

Hmm doesnt taste like Yuan Yang.. alittle too milky for our taste
I think Xin Wang HK Cafe's Yuan Yang taste better.

We order the jam and peanut butter toast we have craving
Picture on the menu look tantalising!
$3 for this thick toast

Very disappointed with this thick toast just by the look of it :(
Isnt it supposed to covered with Peanut butter and dripping with Jam??
Its not.... sob sob

The butter and jam is just not enough
we got sick just eating the plain white bread

it didnt satisfy our craving for thick toast

Last our main course are here
chicken chop baked rice in red sauce for Irene
pork chop baked rice in cream sause for me.

Not enough sauce and cheese for this one
look at that lobang on the side.

chicken chop on the other hand is tender

For this one, every thing looks good!
But sad to say pork chop is very tough
i have to used knife to cut it .. the meat is really tough
my jaws ache....

Under each baked rice, there is a lotus leaf
supposed to make the rice more fragance
but, its not working. No lotus fragant when we smell or eat.
Unlile the one from KL....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmm overall verdict... $30 for this dinner not worth it
we both agreed will go back to try some other food
but definitely not the baked rice and thick toast.

If I crave for baked rice and thick toast
I guess will go back to Xin Wang HK Cafe
or shall try out C nai HK cafe the next round

VERDICT: **/*****

UPDATED UPDATED
Dajie say de.. must indicated address.

Here it is.

HAS THE RECESSION HITS OUR RESTAURANTS?

Today Peng and I went to a local cafe/restaurant
well known for its cheap, not bad and big serving food.
As usual we will order back the same dishes.
It will always look the same if not better than the pictures on the menu.

But today, there is a difference.
Food does not look as appetizing as before
Infact, it does look different from the menu

Has the recession hits our local restaurants?
The portion look as big.. note that i say LOOK AS BIG
yes on the surface maybe
But the thickness of the meat is not the same
its really thinner now.. with thicker layer of batter or chix skin

What happen eh??

Or the standard of their presentation has fallen?
Food just dont look as nice as before.
I hope its just this time.

we have order these from the Menu

Looks good? Oh Yes.. you bet they do

And we were served these....
Hows that? Look different right?
Look more like kopitiam style

So sad.. and what happen to my baby carrots and zucchini?!
